RESEARCH/EXTENSION ACTIVITIES:
1. Development of silage germplasm with improved forage yield and nutritional quality. Related research involves plant cell wall metabolism, complex carbohydrates, lignin, and minerals affecting nutritional quality.
2. Development and evaluation of selection methods for complex traits such as grain and silage yield, silage quality, prolificacy, and heterosis.
3. Germplasm assessment and genetic improvement of corn stover as a primary feedstock for biobased energy, chemical, and material industries.
TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Agron/Hort 811. Biometrical Procedures for Plant Breeders, 3 credits. Taught every other year in sequence with Agron/Hort 812.
Agron/Hort 812. Selection Theory for Quantitative Traits, 3 credits. Taught every other year in sequence with Agron/Hort 811.
